Hello, I’m Janice, a systems engineer who has transformed her life. For a decade, I worked as an engineer—a career I liked but didn’t truly love. However, since I was 9 years old, I’ve harbored a deep passion for cooking, a gift inherited from my grandmother.

In 2016, amidst a personal crisis, I found solace and distraction in photography. It became my therapy and comfort. I started by capturing vegetables, fruits, insects, and whatever was at hand. One thing led to another, and within months, I had ventured into the world of recipes as a freelancer, creating content for cooking blogs. Despite my love for cooking, I felt I needed professional culinary skills. So, I decided to study cooking professionally.

My journey led me to become a freelance food photographer, but I felt I needed more. It was a path of learning, with ups and downs, as I created content as a ghostwriter for multiple food blogs. While I’m grateful for my clients’ trust, I felt the need for my own space.

So, together with my husband, we created Jani Recipes, a special corner where we share our favorite recipes, each with precise measurements to ensure success if you follow the instructions. We also strive to use affordable and easy-to-find ingredients so everyone can enjoy the cooking I love.

Today, my life revolves around preparing and photographing food, loving my family—which includes Lenin, Miranda, Lenincito, Angélica, and our three rescued kittens: Pandora, Mariposa, and Bruno.
